WELCOME to "Hells Canyon Standards"!
So glad you stopped by!
We are a family who raises World Champion Horses and are now branching out into raising Standard Poodles!
As a nice blend with our western lifestyles, we have always enjoyed having Border Collies. But, because of their drive to be around
the cattle and the horses (rippin' through the muddy and poopy barn yard), they've been very difficult to keep clean and have as house dogs.
So, they happily lounge outside and in the barn/garage.
In a search for a smart, hardy and non-shedding breed of family dog we ran across the Standard Poodle. We have
gotten some chuckles from friends about the fact that we bought a POODLE! BUT, we have come to know the Standard Poodle to NOT be
the sissy foo-foo dog it has been stereotyped to be!
Our family's first Standard Poodle was "Hadassah Mae". We had planned on her being our first momma...the foundation of our Standard Poodle family.
However, during her health testing, we discovered that she has a heart defect. So as not to risk her health, nor the health
of future puppies, we decided to spay her. We are rebuilding our breeding plans and will, have a litter now-and-then to
send out into the world for their new families to love and enjoy as much as we do.
Standard Poodles are smart like Border Collies, but don't shed, are very loyal, very trainable, excellent for hunting,
obedience, agility, therapy/service dogs, excellent family companions and much more! Ours go on adventures with us like (but not limited to)
boating, horseback riding, hiking, in the car, in stores, sledding, skiing, camping...you name it!
Our dogs live with us, work with us and play with us. A major portion of our lives is spent in our much loved
Hells Canyon on the Snake River, the deepest river gorge in North America. Standard Poodles are a great comparison to Hells Canyon.
Exquisitely rugged and refined! A perfect blend!
